Veena
வீணை
The instrument of Saraswathi, goddess of music and learning.

About the veena
The Saraswati veena is a plucked string instrument with a long fretted neck, a resonating body and a smaller gourd at the far end. Saraswathi is traditionally shown holding it, which is where the shop gets its name.
It is played seated, and is valued for its ability to follow the subtle gamakas of Carnatic music.
